How to Reset a Garage Door Keypad Code

Jacob covers two situations, setting a code when you don't know the old one, and changing a code you already know without going inside.

Step by step

  1. If you don't know the code: use the learn button

Press the learn button on the opener, go to the keypad within about 30 seconds, enter the code you want, and hold Enter for a second or two.

  2. If you know the code: enter it, then #

Type the old code, then press and hold the pound (#) key for a second or two.

  3. Enter the new code

Type the new code and press Enter. Your code is changed.

Filmed in 2012. The basics haven't changed, but newer doors and openers may differ a little. Springs and cables are under high tension, so never adjust them yourself.
